Need help with Penny, found something broken, or have a question about your account or data? Below are answers to what people ask most. For anything else, email us directly — a real person reads every message.

1. Contact us

Penny is built by one person, so replies usually land within 1–2 business days rather than instantly. Include your account email and, for a bug, what you were doing right before it happened — screenshots help a lot.

2. Frequently asked questions

What is Penny?

Penny is a personal memory app for iPhone. Capture a thought, photo, voice note, list, or link in a few seconds, and Penny automatically organizes and resurfaces it for you — reminders at the right time, a daily brief, and a searchable place to find anything you've saved.

How do I delete my account and everything I've saved?

In the app: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account & All Data. This is permanent — it erases your memories, photos, and account from Penny's servers, with no recovery window afterward. If you want a copy first, use Export All Data in the same section before you delete. If you can't get into the app, email us and we'll help.

How do subscriptions and billing work, and how do I cancel?

Penny Pro (weekly or annual) includes a free trial and is billed entirely through the App Store — Penny never sees or stores your card details. To view, change, or cancel: open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Penny, or tap Manage Subscription inside Penny's own Settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the current period ends either way, and nothing you've saved is ever affected by your subscription status.

What does locking a note do?

Long-press any note (or open it and tap Lock) to hide it behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. A locked note disappears from lists, search, and your daily brief until you unlock it, and it can't be shared as a link. This is enforced on Penny's servers, not just hidden in the app.

Why does Penny ask for Calendar, Reminders, Microphone, and Notifications access?

Each is optional, and Penny works without any of them — you'll just miss the feature that needs it:

You can grant or revoke any of these at any time in iPhone Settings.

Found a bug or have an idea for Penny?

Email penny@penny-thoughts.com with what happened (or what you'd like to see), and for a bug, what you were doing right before it. Every report goes straight to the person building Penny.

Does Penny use my memories to train AI?

No. Penny calls AI providers to categorize, transcribe, and search your content, but those calls run under contracts that prohibit training on your data, and Penny itself never trains models on your memories. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
